Life is Glorious

These pass few weeks have been really hard. Satan sure loves to make my life miserable! But despite all of that, I have been able to see the hand of the Lord more clearly in my life. Every good little thing that happens strengthens my testimony and makes me stronger every day.

It is really hard work to do all of the right things when everything around you is trying to pull and break you down. But with the help from my Savior, I am able to triumph over all things. Kelly Clarkson says it better, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger".

Life is truly glorious when we are living the gospel and following the counsel from the prophets. Prayers, scripture study, church attendance, and paying your tithing all are ways to make life glorious.

Finals Week

As the end of the semester approaches, I am filled with happiness and sadness. I am glad to be one step closer to earning my degree and sad at the prospect of leaving wonderful teachers and classmates. I am grateful for all of the experiences that I have had during this semester and I am excited for the new experiences that await me during the summer semester.

This week as I have been preparing for final presentations and mock interviews, I have thought about how blessed I am to be able to attend LDS Business College. I have had some wonderful opportunities that have prepared me for my future career. Among those wonderful opportunities, I was able to play my violin in a quartet for the last devotional of the semester. That was a perfect way to end the semester. I am truly grateful that I was able to perform with some of the amazing students that attend LDS Business College and to my family for putting up with my practicing over the years.

Spring

"Spring is busting out all over...!". I love when winter melts away into spring. I love watching the flowers bloom and the leafs starting to pop out on the trees. I love to hear the birds singing in the trees. I especially love Easter, General Conference, and April Fool's Day.

My family loves to celebrate all of these events. My mom loves to celebrate April Fool's Day each year. She enjoys thinking of fun things for us to do throughout the day. Since today is April Fool's Day, I have thought back on past April Fool's and the crazy things we have done.

Easter is a wonderful time to think about the Savior and His Atonement. I feel closer to Him and Heavenly Father during this time. For Easter this year, I had the opportunity to watch the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Orchestra on Temple Square perform Handel's Messiah. It was absolutely incredible. It was a great way to focus on Easter and what it means to me.

I am so grateful for the Atonement and for the opportunity to be resurrected and to be with my family forever.

Goals

Today I went to the gym and started working with a personal trainer. After the workout, we sat and talked about goals for myself. Getting into better shape has always been a goal of mine for a long time and today was a step towards accomplishing that goal.

Winston Churchill once said, "Success is not final. Failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts". This quote stuck out to me and I hope that it will speak to you. Don't give up on what you want to accomplish. Make those goals measureable, and meaningful so that you will achieve them. Turn your dreams into reality.

Blessings

This week has been filled with many blessings. I have been incredibly blessed by so many people in many ways. For example, I was able to go to the movies with some of the most amazing friends, I played volleyball, and I have been with family.

I know that these people have been placed in my life for a certain reason. I am extremely grateful that they are apart of my life. I can't imagine life without them because they are truly the best.

Tender Mercies

This past week I have been blessed by the Lord in so many ways. I have felt His love for me this week and it has been such a huge comfort. My testimony has been strengthened as I have seen the hand of the Lord in my life. It all started when I finally paid my tithing on Sunday.

I have been putting off paying my tithing for a few months. But I wrote out the check, put it in an envelope and gave it to my bishop. I felt pretty good after that. The next few days went by fast while I was looking at different housing options for the summer semester and deciding if I wanted to transfer to BYU-Idaho after graduating from LDS Business College.

I was able to met with a mentor for about 30 minutes today. It was fun talking with him and being able to pick his brain. I don't know what happened but by the end of our conversation, I felt like I was supposed to apply to attend BYU-Idaho. So this afternoon, I started the application process to attend BYU-Idaho.

I love how in life we think that we have everything planned out perfectly. Then Heavenly Father is able to change our plans in a way that will benefit us more than our original plan would have. I have come to realize over the years that we are not the ones in control. It is hard to change and adapt but I can testify that I wouldn't be where I am today without all of those loving course corrections.

Crazy Happenings

The semester is almost over and I am very excited! This week has gone by really fast. My roommate and I found a cute little park behind the Capitol building. We went apartment shopping for the summer semester and we hung out with friends playing Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. I felt like a kid again and it was awesome. Life is going good!!!

Friends, Food, and Fun

This week has been full of friends, food, and lots of fun. I have had a great week with some amazing people. From talking to dance parties to playing games to eating out, these are the people that I love being with.

They are like my family in Salt Lake. They love me for who I am and they get me to do things that I wouldn't normally do. They teach and stretch me. I don't know where I would be without them in my life right now.

Sunshine

I don't know about the rest of you but I am loving this beautiful weather that we have been enjoying this week. I love the sunshine!!! It makes me happy to be alive. But when the weather dramatically changes it causes me great pain. I have carpel tunnel issues in both wrists that have been bothering me for the past couple of weeks. Some days are better than other days.

It reminds me of the scripture in the Book of Mormon that reads, "For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things...(2 Nephi 2:11)". This is one of my favorite scriptures because it has helped me when I am going through trials. It is easier to get through hard things when you keep in mind that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Living in Salt Lake City, Utah

When I was younger, I never imagined myself living in a big city. I come from a small town in Southeastern Idaho, where it is very quiet and comfortable. You know almost everyone living there and you always see at least five people that you know at the grocery store or at Walmart.

After I decided to attend LDS Business College here in Salt Lake, I realized that for the next two years of my life I would be living in a big, noisy city. I was not happy with that idea, but I knew I would have to get used to it sooner or later. I chose sooner rather than later.

Now I really enjoy living in this city. I can walk to the Temple whenever I want, there is great shopping everywhere, and something fun is always going on in Downtown. But in the wintertime, there is a thick fog of smog that just hangs over the whole city. It is pretty disgusting...this picture sums it up perfectly.

My blog has been up and running for one week. Yeah!!  This past week has flown by and life is getting better and better every day. I have an awesome roommate, I am attending a great school, and I have family and friends that love and support me. Life is good!

Now I know that some of you might be thinking that life is not going so good right now. This might be the case, but I can tell you from experience that after every mountain is a beautiful valley. You just have to keep hiking. It will be hard but it is worth every second. You can do it, I believe in you.

First Blog Post!

To start off I should probably introduce myself. So my name is Anna Head. I am from Rexburg, Idaho but I am currently living in Salt Lake City, Utah, where I am attending LDS Business College. I am studying Business Management, which I hope to use when I become an office manager.

The purpose of this blog is to share the crazy stories of a college student living in a big city. I hope that you will find my stories uplifting, funny, and enjoyable.
